There are fragrances that smell beautiful. And then there are fragrances that take you somewhere. Sanctuary, the first collection from Atenai London, belongs firmly in the second category.
Built around a perfume-grade blend of Rose and Frankincense, Sanctuary is not simply a product.
It is an immersive emotional experience, woven through an entire range of body and home products and designed to make the user feel a very specific thing: calm, nourished, and quietly lifted.
This is the founding philosophy at Atenai London in its purest form. Every collection the brand creates begins not with a formula, but with a fragrance, a perfume-grade scent crafted with intention, built to evoke a precise emotional state, and then expressed consistently across every product in the range.
From the first wash in the morning to the last moment of the evening, Sanctuary accompanies the user. The same scent, in every layer of the day.

The Story Behind Sanctuary
When the founder, Nuno Silva, founded Atenai London, he began not with a brief or a trend report, but with a question: what does it feel like to truly arrive somewhere safe? To step out of the noise of the world and into a space, physical, emotional, interior, that is entirely yours?
Sanctuary was his answer.
The first collection he envisioned for the brand, it was conceived as a fragrant refuge: a scent that could quiet the mind, ground the senses, and restore something that the day had taken. Not a perfume worn to be noticed, but a perfume worn to come home to oneself.
“Sanctuary is a fragrance that transcends the boundaries of ordinary scent. It is a commitment to break free from the chaos and to connect with yourself and the world around you.”
Nuno Silva, Founder, Atenai London
The pairing of Rose and Frankincense was not accidental. Rose has been the language of beauty, love, and emotional openness across cultures and centuries. Frankincense, one of the most ancient aromatic resins in human history, burned in sacred spaces from ancient Egypt to medieval cathedrals, carries with it a quality that is almost impossible to describe in purely olfactory terms.
It grounds. It elevates. It creates a stillness that feels earned. Together, they are a fragrance that holds the individual.

The Fragrance Journey
Atenai London composed Sanctuary with an Eau de Parfum concentration, a deliberate choice that gives the fragrance genuine presence and longevity, designed to last five to six hours on skin, while remaining refined enough never to overpower.
It projects with confidence and then settles into something quieter and deeply personal. The full fragrance unfolds in three distinct acts.
Glimpses of Light: The Top Notes
The opening of Sanctuary arrives like a morning one didn’t expect to be beautiful.
Coconut and Bergamot lead with a warmth that is simultaneously tropical and familiar, followed by the brightness of Italian Lemon, Mandarin, and Orange, and the gentle freshness of Eucalyptus.
A touch of Ginger adds quiet energy, the fragrant equivalent of a deep breath before a good day.
These top notes do not linger long, but they set the tone with precision: this is a scent that begins with optimism.
A Warm Embrace: The Middle Notes
As the citrus lifts, the true soul of Sanctuary reveals itself. Rose, the centrepiece and the reason for the collection’s name, opens with a velvety fullness that is neither sharp nor overpowering.
It is rose as comfort rather than rose as performance. Around it, Jasmine adds creamy depth, Geranium brings a soft green clarity, and Ylang Ylang contributes a whisper of exotic warmth. Pink Pepper weaves through the floral layers with just enough spice to keep the blend alive and interesting.
The heart of Sanctuary is the fragrance equivalent of being held, warm, enveloping, entirely safe.
Sacred Ground: The Base Notes
The dry-down of Sanctuary is where its most meditative quality emerges. Frankincense, the soul of the collection, unfolds slowly, carrying with it an ancient, resinous tranquillity that feels almost ceremonial.
Cedarwood and Sandalwood provide a warm, smoky wooden framework. Amber adds richness and depth. White Musk softens everything into a second-skin quality that makes the fragrance feel as though it has always belonged to the wearer.
In its base, Sanctuary becomes exactly what its name promises: a place of stillness and refuge.
The Fragrance Pyramid

Provenance: The Essential Oils
One of the quiet distinctions of Sanctuary is the provenance of the essential oils. Each one has been sourced from the region of the world where its raw material grows at its finest, a commitment to quality that begins long before the fragrance reaches the skin.
Bergamot and Lemon arrive from Italy, where the Mediterranean sun gives citrus its characteristic brightness and complexity.
Rose Absolute comes from Morocco, one of the world’s most celebrated rose-growing regions, where the petals are harvested by hand at dawn. Frankincense, listed as Olibanum Oil, is sourced from India, where the Boswellia tree produces a resin of exceptional quality and purity.
Sandalwood (West Indian/Amyris) originates from India; Ylang Ylang from Madagascar; Patchouli from Indonesia; Pink Pepper from South America; and Cedarwood, Geranium, and Ginger from China.
The result is a fragrance that is, in the truest sense, a global composition, local expertise and exceptional raw materials brought together in service of a single emotional intention.
One Scent. An Entire World.
What makes Sanctuary genuinely unlike anything else in the premium wellness market is not any single product, but the philosophy that connects all of them.
Atenai London builds its collections from the fragrance outward, which means that every product in the Sanctuary range, from the Eau de Parfum to the Body Lotion, Body Wash, Hand Cream, Hand Wash, and beyond, carries the exact same perfume-grade scent composition.
In most brands, this simply does not happen.
The shower gel smells different from the body lotion. The lotion smells different from the perfume, and the candle, as well as the reed diffuser, smell differently too. Fragrance is applied inconsistently, as a finishing touch, a marketing claim, a pleasant addition.
At Atenai London, it is the foundation.
The result is a genuinely immersive experience, a ritual in which every layer of a routine reinforces the same emotional state, deepening the effect rather than diluting it.
“To step into a Sanctuary product is to step inside a feeling, and stay there, all day long.”
For home fragrance enthusiasts, Atenai London also offers Sanctuary as a Candle and Reed Diffuser, extending the same emotional environment from the body into the space around it.
Conscious Beauty, Without Compromise
Sanctuary, like every one of the Atenai London products, is entirely vegan and cruelty-free. All of the brand's manufacturing partners are GMP-approved, and the packaging philosophy prioritises sustainability through the use of recycled and recyclable materials. This is luxury that does not ask the consumer to look away from how it is made.
The Final Word
Sanctuary is, at its heart, a very simple idea expressed with exceptional craft: the idea that everyone deserves a moment every single day that belongs only to them. A pause in the noise. A breath of something beautiful. A fragrant reminder that amid everything life demands, there is always a sanctuary within reach.
Atenai London did not create Sanctuary merely as a product; they created it as an invitation.
Whether encountered first as a spritz of Eau de Parfum on the wrist, a lather of body wash in the shower, or the quiet diffusion of a candle in the living room, the invitation remains the same: step in, breathe deeply, and choose how to feel.
